Wrapped: Degenerate Gambling Edition

It’s that time of the year again. Or it was last week. Everyone gets to open their Instagram feed and see which one of their friends has the most “eclectic” music taste and who played the same artist on repeat the most at the gym. The way I see it, it’s really a competition to flex how big of a Swiftie or ZB (RIP) fan you are. If you’re not in the 0.01%, don’t even come at me with that shit.

The Action Network is not a sponsor of the Gambling Den nor will they probably ever be. BUT, they’re gonna get some free pub here because I really enjoy the Spotify Wrapped-like feature they did again this year. They have a good product if you’re interested in tracking which toilet you’re flushing your money down. Their end of year summary is basically a view of how much of a degen you were sports betting throughout the year. I picked out a few slides from my #ActionRecap which seemed applicable for end of year summary. Let’s dive right in:

“This team lost you the most units in 2024”

Title says it all. Definitely the least surprising of the bunch. I feel like the Buckeyes covered ~30% of their games. In reality they were 6-6 ATS this year so I must’ve bet them five out of the six games they didn’t cover. Maybe it’s a sign for this weekend…

Betting with our heart got us somewhere with the Illini

If you’re a regular visitor to the Gambling Den, it’s no secret to you I’m an Illini fan. I took the Illinois football win total over this year and didn’t look back betting them ATS most games. It helped that they were generally overlooked by Vegas oddsmakers and overperformed as they went 8-3-1 ATS. They’re gonna be returning “Nuke” Altmyer as starting QB along with some really other great talent in 2025 so I’m hammering their win total again next year. The Illinois basketball team is coming into form but I’ve gotta tone down my expectations from the football season.

I’ll hang my hat on this one. Can’t get cocky though. Gotta park my ass in the kitchen and keep makin the sausage. Bone apple tea.

Ironically, Illini basketball dropped a tough one on Saturday. I’m counting their game against Tennessee as a loss as I grabbed them at ML when the book posted it. Another week where the picks could’ve easily been 7-3 or 8-2. I think we had one game miss by a half point and another by two. Either way, we don’t dwell on the past good or bad. Take the money and run.

Looks like Uncle Eddie left the hose on all weekend and it flooded the yard, the house, and the neighbor’s garden. Full card was 52 plays from Friday night through Monday Night Football. And even I’d say that’s a little absurd. Not sure if I should be pissed or happy that I ended up essentially even after all that. We gotta tone it down. Start big game hunting. I think it was the Twitter machine that had me firing on all games. Luckily, it’s not a storm sewer.

This week we saw the boys miss the Friendship Parlay by just one leg. The play was Titans 1H u23.5/Panthers o43/Lions o54.5/Texans u46.5. We’ve been knocking at the door all season and I think we’ll cash at least one more before football is over this year. I will do my best to get the rest of them out on Twitter (@FSPrusty). This Week

Really happy to be returning to mainly a college football card this week. I’m releasing the column a day earlier this week to take advantage of an extra bowl game Thursday night and Thursday Night Football. The real fans are clamoring for one more PPOTW and I feel a strong possibility of two FSPs, one for Saturday games and another for the NFL Sunday slate. Again, look for those on the twitter feed.
